We wrote stories pretending to be a polar bear. Please call into school and read the rest of our stories.

Plodding through the soft silky snow I was searching for my sneaky prey. I’d love to get a juicy seal right now.
I was sliding along the slippery snow when suddenly a giant seal jumped up from the snow. I froze like a statue. He couldn’t see me because I was camouflaged against the snow. I came sneaking up, at the last minute he spotted me. I pounced. The seal wasn’t fast enough, I caught him by his flippers just as he touched the water. I dragged him up onto the ice and killed him. I hauled him to my den leaving a trail of blood. My cubs loved the feast.

Heaving my heavy body out of the thick snow I smell a dead whale.
Yay! The whale was crowded with seals. I snuck up. I pounced on a giant seal. I tore it to bits. I dragged it home.
It was tasty!

After a long sleep, spring had come. I went from my den.
I spied a seal on an iceberg. I pounced! It fell off while I was in the air. I landed on the iceberg.
My cubs were killed by a seal. I felt sad. I found the seal that killed my cubs. I killed and ate the seal.

Spud Day
On Friday, we dug the potatoes for Tuesday lunch. Some people brought mufti. While digging the potatoes we found animal shaped purple ones as well as normal potatoes.
After we finished the potatoes we dug the carrots and did the same routine.
On Tuesday the potatoes were scrumptious with the cheese and butter on them, While waiting in line carrots were handed out, which were very crunchy.         by Camryn

Friday 13th March Room 3 dug and washed the potatoes. After we were done we took them to a storing place in behind the glass door by the sports shed. We also did the carrots.
We took the tools back in the gardening shed.
My potato was delicious.          By Taye

Tuesday the 17th March was Potato Day. Room 3 prepared it. We also dug them and washed them. We had around 80 potatoes. Kirstie and Tracey volunteered to help. Tracey could fit all of them in her oven so she cooked them. When it came to eating everyone had to bring some toppings. The school had cheese, sour cream and carrots.
I thought the potatoes were yummy. I got four little ones and one was purple.     by Emily

Spending Time in the School Garden

A few more photos from our garden session.

Sunday 15 March 2015

On Friday we spent some time cleaning up the garden area. We dug the spuds which will be cooked on Tuesday for lunch. We also dug up the carrots which will be offered on Tuesday as well.
We are looking forward to the pumpkins being ready so we can try making pumpkin soup.
The gardens will need to be dug over again to check for the deep lying potatoes and to loosen some of the compacted soil ready for replanting.
We read some information from gardening websites on the ipads and think we will plant more carrots, silverbeet, brussel sprouts, broccoli and cauliflower.
If anyone would like to help us out with more soil, compost or seedlings we would very much appreciate it.

Swimming

Wow, the children certainly improved their swimming over the last few weeks. I am proud of their effort on Friday at the senior swimming sports.
